New Genetic Discovery Turns ‘Settled’ Evolution Science on Its Head

New Genetic Discovery Turns ‘Settled’ Evolution Science on Its Head

BY BENJAMIN ARIE
JUNE 8, 2018 AT 2:31PM

The left seems obsessed with touting “settled science.” From the theory of evolution to global warming, or its newer replacement “climate change,” liberals frequently pound textbooks with fanatical enthusiasm, smugly dismissing anyone who dares question pre-approved narratives.

As any true scientists understand, however, “settled science” is an oxymoron. Science is an ongoing process — not a set of perfect answers. Just don’t tell Al Gore.

Over the last several weeks, that point was made once again when one of the core assumptions about evolution was shown to be untrue.

Two scientists just published a discovery that calls into question many of the tenets of Darwin, and seems to vindicate people who have been pointing out flaws in evolution theories for decades.

Mark Stoeckle from The Rockefeller University in New York and David Thaler at the University of Basel in Switzerland […] together published findings last week sure to jostle, if not overturn, more than one settled idea about how evolution unfolds,” reported Phys.org, a major research news site.

It is textbook biology, for example, that species with large, far-flung populations—think ants, rats, humans—will become more genetically diverse over time,” the source explained.

To the chagrin of many, it turns out those textbooks were wildly wrong.

A study of widespread DNA samples conducted by Stoeckle and Thaler found that genetic diversity among billions of humans and millions of birds “is about the same,” in the words of the lead researcher.

That flies in the face of what evolutionary science has taught for years — namely that genetic diversity increases dramatically over time, setting up the conditions for natural selection, described by Darwin, to occur.

For years, scientists have assumed that animals have evolved at hugely different periods in time, each essentially on its own developmental “path.”

It has also been long assumed that many animals roamed the earth long before human arrived.

But the new study found something amazing: The animals on earth today seem to have come into being at the same time as humans.

In analyzing the (DNA) barcodes across 100,000 species, the researchers found a telltale sign showing that almost all the animals emerged about the same time as humans,” Phys.org explained.

90 percent of the species on earth, including human beings, all came to be in the last 100,000 or 200,000 years, a relatively short time span to evolutionists.

This conclusion is very surprising, and I fought against it as hard as I could,” David Thaler, one of the scientists behind the study, declared.

Think about that for a moment: While he eventually concluded that his past assumptions were wrong, this scientist has just admitted that instead of following the data to their conclusion, he “fought against” evidence that didn’t fit an existing narrative. So much for the claim that scientists are impartial.

How does one explain the fact that 90 percent of animal life, genetically speaking, is roughly the same age?” Phys.org asked. “Was there some catastrophic event 200,000 years ago that nearly wiped the slate clean?”

The science news site specifically steered clear of mentioning faith, but it’s worth noting that many religious people have long believed that a cataclysmic event like a flood took place in the not-so-distant past. There’s also the possibility that creationist theories would answer the “clean slate” question.

Almost everyone has heard the term “missing link.” This is the fabled “in-between” stages that link different species, such as ape-like animals and humans.

If evolution theories are correct, there should be numerous examples of these missing links. In a puzzle that has perplexed theorists for decades, however, there is little evidence of these in-between creatures.

The recent DNA study came to a similar conclusion: The “missing links” are still missing, even at the genetic level.

Another unexpected finding from the study (is that) species have very clear genetic boundaries, and there’s nothing much in between,” explained Psy.org. “The absence of ‘in-between’ species is something that also perplexed Darwin.”

The major takeaway from all of this isn’t that every piece of evolutionary theory is wrong, but rather that “settled science” is a myth.

Every time someone is mocked for raising legitimate questions about global warming, evolution, or even modern medicine, it’s worth remembering that science is always wrong more times than it is right.

That’s the point — in order to be effective, the scientific process must keep correcting itself, and find past assumptions that turn out to be incorrect. The science is never settled, and anyone who says otherwise is a snake-oil salesman with an agenda.

Science points to a Divine Creator

Science points to a Divine Creator

Creation of Adam by MichelangeloAmerican Minute with Bill Federer

“O, Almighty God, I am thinking Thy thoughts after Thee!” wrote astronomer Johannes Kepler, 1619, The Harmonies of the World.

Johannes Kepler was born DECEMBER 27, 1571.

An attack of smallpox when he was four years old left Johannes Kepler with crippled hands and poor eyesight.

Overcoming those handicaps, Kepler took up the study of science.

The person most responsible for advancing the scientific method was Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626).

Sir Francis Bacon, who helped found the Royal Society of London, wrote:

“There are two books laid before us to study, to prevent our falling into error; first, the volume of Scriptures, which reveal the will of God; then the volume of the Creatures, which express His power.”

In his work, Essays: Of Goodness, Sir Francis Bacon wrote:

“There never was found, in any age of the world, either philosophy, or sect, or religion, or law, or discipline, which did so highly exalt the good of the community, and increase private and particular good as the holy Christian faith. Hence, it clearly appears that it was one and the same God that gave the Christian law to men, who gave the laws of nature to the creatures.”

In his treatise titled, Of Atheism, Sir Francis Bacon declared:

“A little philosophy inclineth man’s mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men’s minds about to religion.”

A contemporary of Johannes Kepler was Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), who made the first practical use of the telescope.

Galileo Galilei stated:

“I am inclined to think that the authority of Holy Scripture is intended to convince men of those truths which are necessary for their salvation, which, being far above man’s understanding, can not be made credible by any learning, or any other means than revelation by the Holy Spirit.”

Galileo’s work gave credence to the heliocentric theory of Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543), where the sun is the center of the solar system instead of the earth, as Ptolemy’s geocentric theory had previously taught.

Copernicus’ heliocentric theory was advanced by Johannes Kepler, who at age 23 had become a professor of astronomy.

Johannes Kepler discovered the laws governing planetary motion and pioneered the discipline of celestial mechanics, known as Kepler’s Laws, which aided Newton in his formulation of the theory of gravitation.

Kepler’s publishing of the ephemeris tables, necessary for plotting star movement, contributed to the theory of calculus.

In book five of The Harmonies of the World (1619), Kepler wrote:

“The die is cast; the book is written, to be read either now or by posterity, I care not which.

It may be well to wait a century for a reader, as God has waited six thousand years for an observer.”

In comparing celestial orbits of the planets with polyphonic harmonies in music, Kepler wrote in The Harmonies of the Worlds (1619):

“Holy Father, keep us safe in the concord of our love for one another, that we may be one just as Thou art with Thy Son, Our Lord, and with the Holy Ghost,

and just as through the sweetest bonds of harmonies Thou hast made all Thy works one,

and that from the bringing of Thy people into concord, the body of Thy Church may be built up in the Earth, as Thou didst erect the heavens themselves out of harmonies.”

In the conclusion of his treatise, The Harmonies of the Worlds (1619), Johannes Kepler wrote:

“I thank Thee, my Creator and Lord, that Thou hast given me this joy in Thy creation, this delight in the works of Thy hands;

I have shown the excellency of Thy works unto man, so far as my finite mind was able to comprehend Thine infinity; if I have said aught of Thy glory, graciously forgive it.”

Two centuries later, Yale professor Benjamin Silliman, who in 1818 founded the American Journal of Science and Arts, stated:

“The relation of geology, as well as astronomy, to the Bible, when both are well understood, is that of perfect harmony…

The Word and the works of God cannot conflict, and the more they are studied the more perfect will their harmony appear.”

Best-selling author Eric Metaxas wrote in the The Wall Street Journal article “Science Increasingly Makes the Case for God” (Dec. 25, 2014):

“In 1966…astronomer Carl Sagan announced that there were two important criteria for a planet to support life: The right kind of star, and a planet the right distance from that star.

Given the roughly octillion-1 followed by 24 zeros-planets in the universe, there should have been about septillion-1 followed by 21 zeros-planets capable of supporting life…

But as years passed, the silence from the rest of the universe was deafening… As of 2014, researches have discovered precisely bubkis-ZERO followed by nothing…”

Eric Metaxas continued:

“What happened? As our knowledge of the universe increased, it became clear that there were far more factors necessary for life than Sagan supposed.

His two parameters grew to 10 and then 20 and then 50, and so the number of potentially life-supporting planets decreased accordingly…

Peter Schenkel wrote in a 2006 piece for Skeptical Inquirer magazine:

‘In light of new findings…we should quietly admit that the early estimates…may no longer be tenable.’

As factors continued to be discovered, the number of possible planets hit zero… In other words, the odds turned against any planet in the universe supporting life, including this one…”

Eric Metaxas stated further:

“Today there are more than 200 known parameters necessary for a planet to support life-every single one of which must be perfectly met, or the whole thing falls apart.

Without a massive planet like Jupiter nearby, whose gravity will draw away asteroids, a thousand times as many would hit Earth’s surface.

The odds against life in the universe are simply astonishing.  Yet here we are, not only existing, but talking about existing.

What can account for it?… At what point is it fair to admit that science suggests that we cannot be the result of random forces?…”

Eric Metaxas ended:

“Theoretical physicist Paul Davies has said that “the appearance of design is overwhelming”…

Oxford professor Dr. John Lennox has said

‘the more we get to know about our universe, the more the hypothesis that there is a Creator…gains in credibility as the best explanation of why we are here.’”

CREATION: A BIRTH FROM GOD!

HEBREW HONEYCOMB
CREATION: A BIRTH FROM GOD!

William Andrew Dillard

“Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” Psalm 90:1-2. Thus does the Bible re-affirm creation as coming from God, but uniquely here as a birth from God. The term “brought forth” is in the ancient Hebrew language “Yalad” which mean “to give birth to.” Think with me for a minute or two.
In the relentless search for human mastery, science has learned that all material is made up of atoms. But we must know what the basic building block of material is. So with progress, man achieved the splitting of the atom. It was found that all atoms are made up of neutrons, protons, and electrons. Are these the most basic components of all material? No. It has been more recently discovered that these are made up of smaller building blocks called quarks. But the attempts to split a quark to see what it is made of has been unsuccessful to date. Men have made vaunted progress on most all fronts in these end-time days, but they still do not know what material really is. Incidentally, all of these components of material are themselves invisible to the human eye. So, just what is material anyway? The far reaches of science must limit itself to explaining it as quarks combined to make electrons, protons, and neutrons which combine to made atoms which combine to make all known material elements. So, if all material is made from the same components how is one material expression stone, another wood, another earth, etc. Puzzles can be fun.
How much easier it is for the man of faith to simply believe the Bible! Material, whatever its basic components are came directly from God Who describes these things as a birth from Him. They express themselves in various different forms according to His command and direct will. True science is defined as “systematized facts” and the fact is that men will not produce anything factual that contradicts the Holy Word. One wonders just how many man hours and tax dollars could be saved if men would simply admit the component of faith into their lives!

Nuclear Physicist Declares: ‘Science Will Never Contradict The Bible’

Nuclear Physicist Declares: ‘Science Will Never Contradict The Bible’

Posted: 05 Aug 2015 04:35 PM PDT

evo

From christiannews.net

STELLENBOSCH, South Africa – An accomplished nuclear physicist has recently expressed outspoken support for the Genesis creation account, arguing that the evolutionary worldview “fails dismally” in its description of scientific realty.

Dr. Brandon van der Ventel is a nuclear physicist with a Ph.D. from South Africa’s Stellenbosch University, where he currently teaches theoretical nuclear physics. Van der Ventel’s specialties include biological systems, physics education, and computational physics.

In an interview with Christian News Network, van der Ventel explained why—as a physicist—he firmly believes the literal, historical interpretation of the Bible’s creation account. The theory of evolution, he explained, is scientifically unsubstantiated.

“The final arbiter of any theory must be based on the strength of its description of physical reality,” he said. “It is in this respect that the theory of evolution fails dismally.”

Not only is the second law of thermodynamics “a powerful argument against chemical evolution,” van der Ventel stated, but the very dating methods evolutionists cite are mostly supported by assumptions—not physics.

“Physics can also play a role when it comes to the sticky question of dating certain objects,” he noted. “It is important to understand that dinosaur bones, for example, are not found with a time stamp attached to them. Every publicized age is based on certain assumptions and conflicting radioactive dates are commonplace.”

On the contrary, the Bible’s creation account logically explains both physical reality and the nature of God, van der Ventel said.

“The creation account in Genesis establishes a number of great truths which form part of the Christian worldview,” he stated. “It points to God as the all-mighty Creator: a timeless, spaceless, immaterial and personal Being who is both the explanation and cause of the universe.”

The South African physicist further told Christian News Network that Genesis must be taken at face value, or else the rest of the Bible is compromised.

“At which chapter in Genesis do we start believing God’s revelation and the fact that all Scripture is God-breathed?” he asked. “It is important to understand that the denial of the Genesis account of creation is a direct result of the theory of evolution which posits a naturalistic explanation for the origin of life.”

“The denial of the Genesis account is not a matter to be taken lightly by Christians,” he continued. “If the biblical record is not true, then we are left with naturalism and atheism, of which the consequences are truly horrific.”

Van der Ventel asserted that “all scientific evidence has always and will always support the Bible.”

“Science will never contradict the Bible,” he said. “The reason is very simple: the Author of Scripture is also the Creator. That is what we as Christians should believe and promulgate at all times. It is a false dichotomy to think that the Bible and Science are in opposition. Even Christians fall into this mode of thinking due to the vicious and unrelenting propaganda.”

As a scientist, van der Ventel encourages young Christians to “enter the scientific field since university campuses are hotbeds for evolutionary propaganda.”

“By arming oneself with scientific material it is possible to engage non-believers in a systematic and technical manner,” he advised. “Christian parents should equip themselves and their children since television programs such as the History Channel, National Geographic or Discovery World shamelessly push their evolutionary agenda.”

“It is clear that if we are to demolish arguments (2 Corinthians 10:5), then equipping ourselves is paramount,” he concluded. “All believers should study Christian apologetics, since it will not only strengthen your own faith but also motivate you to boldly proclaim the Gospel in a secular society where the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Christ, are routinely denied.”

As previously reported, a respected molecular geneticist told Christian News Network last month that recent findings in the field of genetics confirm the Bible’s teachings that all humans descended from an original couple created by God.

Science Increasingly Makes the Case for God

Science Increasingly Makes the Case for God

The odds of life existing on another planet grow ever longer. Intelligent design, anyone?

By ERIC METAXAS

Dec. 25, 2014 4:56 p.m.

In 1966 Time magazine ran a cover story asking: Is God Dead? Many have accepted the cultural narrative that he’s obsolete—that as science progresses, there is less need for a “God” to explain the universe. Yet it turns out that the rumors of God’s death were premature. More amazing is that the relatively recent case for his existence comes from a surprising place—science itself.

Here’s the story: The same year Time featured the now-famous headline, the astronomer Carl Sagan announced that there were two important criteria for a planet to support life: The right kind of star, and a planet the right distance from that star. Given the roughly octillion—1 followed by 27 zeros—planets in the universe, there should have been about septillion—1 followed by 24 zeros—planets capable of supporting life.

With such spectacular odds, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, a large, expensive collection of private and publicly funded projects launched in the 1960s, was sure to turn up something soon. Scientists listened with a vast radio telescopic network for signals that resembled coded intelligence and were not merely random. But as years passed, the silence from the rest of the universe was deafening. Congress defunded SETI in 1993, but the search continues with private funds. As of 2014, researchers have discovered precisely bubkis—0 followed by nothing.

What happened? As our knowledge of the universe increased, it became clear that there were far more factors necessary for life than Sagan supposed. His two parameters grew to 10 and then 20 and then 50, and so the number of potentially life-supporting planets decreased accordingly. The number dropped to a few thousand planets and kept on plummeting.

Even SETI proponents acknowledged the problem. Peter Schenkel wrote in a 2006 piece for Skeptical Inquirer magazine: “In light of new findings and insights, it seems appropriate to put excessive euphoria to rest . . . . We should quietly admit that the early estimates . . . may no longer be tenable.”

As factors continued to be discovered, the number of possible planets hit zero, and kept going. In other words, the odds turned against any planet in the universe supporting life, including this one. Probability said that even we shouldn’t be here.

Today there are more than 200 known parameters necessary for a planet to support life—every single one of which must be perfectly met, or the whole thing falls apart. Without a massive planet like Jupiter nearby, whose gravity will draw away asteroids, a thousand times as many would hit Earth’s surface. The odds against life in the universe are simply astonishing.

Yet here we are, not only existing, but talking about existing. What can account for it? Can every one of those many parameters have been perfect by accident? At what point is it fair to admit that science suggests that we cannot be the result of random forces? Doesn’t assuming that an intelligence created these perfect conditions require far less faith than believing that a life-sustaining Earth just happened to beat the inconceivable odds to come into being?

There’s more. The fine-tuning necessary for life to exist on a planet is nothing compared with the fine-tuning required for the universe to exist at all. For example, astrophysicists now know that the values of the four fundamental forces—gravity, the electromagnetic force, and the “strong” and “weak” nuclear forces—were determined less than one millionth of a second after the big bang. Alter any one value and the universe could not exist. For instance, if the ratio between the nuclear strong force and the electromagnetic force had been off by the tiniest fraction of the tiniest fraction—by even one part in 100,000,000,000,000,000—then no stars could have ever formed at all. Feel free to gulp.

Multiply that single parameter by all the other necessary conditions, and the odds against the universe existing are so heart-stoppingly astronomical that the notion that it all “just happened” defies common sense. It would be like tossing a coin and having it come up heads 10 quintillion times in a row. Really?

Fred Hoyle, the astronomer who coined the term “big bang,” said that his atheism was “greatly shaken” at these developments. He later wrote that “a common-sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a super-intellect has monkeyed with the physics, as well as with chemistry and biology . . . . The numbers one calculates from the facts seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion almost beyond question.”

Theoretical physicist Paul Davies has said that “the appearance of design is overwhelming” and Oxford professor Dr. John Lennox has said “the more we get to know about our universe, the more the hypothesis that there is a Creator . . . gains in credibility as the best explanation of why we are here.”

The greatest miracle of all time, without any close seconds, is the universe. It is the miracle of all miracles, one that ineluctably points with the combined brightness of every star to something—or Someone—beyond itself.

Mr. Metaxas is the author, most recently, of “Miracles: What They Are, Why They Happen, and How They Can Change Your Life” ( Dutton Adult, 2014).

Correction

An earlier version understated the number of zeroes in an octillion and a septillion.

HOW MANY HUSBANDS/WIVES???

 Parson to Person

HOW MANY HUSBANDS/WIVES???
An experience common to modern man is that of occasional wondering just who it is that is staring back at him in the mirror. One preacher said that each time he wants to look into the mirror; some old man beats him there. Once while visiting an old friend in the hospital whom I had not seen in many years, he said, “I know I look different, and some things have changed, but I am still the guy you knew years ago.” Such is the often amazement of the aging process. In response to a question to one man by his wife: “will you love me when I am old and gray,” came the reply, “certainly; I have already loved you through six other colors!” On a more serious note, medical science tells us that with the exception of brain cells, every cell in the human body dies and is replaced every seven years, and it is the oxidation of cells creating imperfect replacements that accounts for the aging process. Hummm, every seven years! No wonder then that my wife has had eight husbands, and I have enjoyed eight wives! But alas, when brain cells die, they are not replaced. Could that mean there is a lot of short-circuiting going on between the ears? We are indeed a changing people in a changing world.
But, hold on, and rejoice! Our Creator/Savior is the same yesterday, today, and forever! So unchangeable also are His promises! The universal laws of sin and death are also unchangeable in the world of men. As the operation of those laws cause the human body to spiral downward into the clutches of death, so do they cause the very planet and all therein to spiral downward. It is called the Second Law of Thermodynamics, the most provable law of science. But something else is potentially going on. Potentially, that is, to those who may not know the Lord personally in the free pardon of sin, but reality in those who do. In Holy Writ it is so stated: “. . .but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” 2 Cor. 4:16. This is shouting ground! This is the ultimate defiance of the Second Law of Thermodynamics! It is the essence of everlasting life in the here and now that shall continue to be enjoyed in eternity.
It is a blessing to enjoy the multiple spouses all in one person that the aging process produces, but it is an exponentially greater blessing to know the eternal presence of spiritual life in Christ, and the exciting, invigorating hope it produces.

Wisdom of This World

1 Corinthians 3:18-23
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness,” 1 Corinthians 3:19.

God is a friend of wisdom and truth. He is not against science, chemistry, mathematics or medicine. True wisdom leads us to God.
Wilson A. Bentley, known as the Snowflake Man or Snowflake Bentley, became interested in snowflakes at the young age of fourteen. He studied them for nearly fifty years, and as an adult photographed, cataloged and wrote scientific articles that were published in countless magazines and scientific journals. In his study of snowflakes, Mr. Bentley concluded that, to the best of his knowledge, no snowflake “was an exact duplicate of any other snowflake!” (adding) “With profound humility, we acknowledge that the Great Designer is incomparable and unapproachable in the infinite prodigality and beauty of His works. Under the microscope I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty. The sheer scope of creation that fills us with praise for the Creator, when examining snowflakes, the wonders of God’s handiwork are to be found in the tiniest details of all He has made.”
Sadly, much of the wisdom of this present world denies that God exists. Why? They choose not to believe in Him. This false belief makes them the most foolish of all people.

Characteristics of Loyal Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
“Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things,” 1 Corinthians 13:7.
If my son comes home from school tomorrow and tells me he has an A in science, I am going to believe him. Why would I believe him? Since he is my son and I love him, I want to believe him and I would absolutely love for that to be true. I want him to do his best and make good grades, and if he thinks he is doing well, I want to celebrate his success. But, what will happen when he brings home his report card and his grade in science is not an A? Will I love him any less? If my love were dependent upon his performance, then it would not be love at all, would it?
Of course, to love someone means we must be willing to put up with mistakes and failures. That is why, in verse 7 of 1 Corinthians 13, it states that love “beareth all things” and “endureth all things.” The strength of our love is tested when the recipients of our love are less than lovable. Think about it. It is easy to love someone who loves you back and makes life easier for you. As long as everything is going smoothly, love flows freely. But, what about when things do not go smoothly? What about when my child brings home a bad grade? It is in these moments when love is difficult and the genuineness of our love is tested.
The purpose of love is to strengthen the other person, helping him to realize his full potential as a child of God. That does not happen overnight, and there are many bumps along the way. Love believes all things and hopes all things, but it also endures all things.

JUST A THOUGHT
Will you show loyal love today?

266 – Sept. 23 – This Day in Baptist History Past

FEMA roots started sixty-years ago

1961 – David L. Cummins was pastoring in an industrial suburb of Detroit, MI when he was severely tested as to whether he would stand on his Baptist convictions, or compromise over what many would consider an insignificant issue. Those days were the height of the “cold” war between the U.S. and Russia when the media and movies were warning of the fall-out from a nuclear attack. Many citizens were building bomb shelters in their back yards and equipping them in case of an atomic attack. Against that background, Pastor Cummins was asked by the city officials to represent the community in a government sponsored training school, geared to train religious leaders in preparation for a possible nuclear attack by the Soviet Union. He consented and attended such a training session in classes daily, at Sheepshead Bay, NY, with about forty other clergymen for a week. On one occasion, after an attack, a young lady asked the pastors to give the “last rites” to her dying child. The instructor asked for a show of hands those who would be willing to do so. Cummins was the lone dissenter claiming the time honored Baptist doctrine of “soul liberty.” From then on he was ostracized by the others. This is the kind of treatment that preachers can expect, who refuse to go into the world religious system that will include all religions. [This Day in Baptist History II: Cummins and Thompson, BJU Press: Greenville, S.C. 2000 A.D. pp. 521-23]
